Week 45

marco rosso

Nov. 28 - Dec. 5

I am starting to realize that my posters tend to follow trends. Today, animated movies part two.

This month, I started going over the Studio Ghibli catalog. I had been a big admirer of the aesthetic screenshots I got recommended on Pinterest and Instagram for years, and I finally got around to watch them.

I started with Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro a few months ago and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind on a flight a few weeks after that. Later I watched Howl's Moving Castle. This week, as instructed by this surprisingly detailed flowchart ↗, I watched Porco Rosso

It was amazing! Maybe the romantic plot is a bit questionable, but still an amazing movie. The animation and soundtrack are as beautiful as I expected. The plot was relatively straightforward letting the atmosphere and the animation shine through, yet complex enough to be interesting throughout. I foresee more Ghibli in my future

I've been watching a lot of media recently, especially YouTube. In particular, I've been watching a lot of design-adjacent videos, such as Brandon Shepherd's content ↗. Visually, I wanted to imitate his mastery of making fake shadows and composing lifelike compositions out of unrelated stock images, so I attempted to experiment further with the style I used back in week 41 ↗. I still have some ways to go

Finally, in what might be my longest entry so far: the text. I find the pigs who fly expression funny. As a person who has found himself in unusual situations, I feel as though this might apply to some of my achievements so far
