Original Sketch of Abrazo del Alma

original sketch

Following a lot the work I've done in my drawing class last semester, I came back to soccer references and moments.

For this poster, I was ✨inspired✨ by "abrazo del alma," a famous photograph following Argentina's 1978 World Cup title, where a fan with no arms runs on the pitch and joins the embrace of two Argentinian players celebrating.

Visually (deisgn-ly?), I based this week's poster on the works of Seymour Chwast ↗, a NY-based designer and founder of the legendary Push Pin Co.

Seymour's style has changed drastically over the years, though. So for this week, I was specifically looking at the two posters below that feature a jarring combination of thin, handmade, line illustrations with digital images and type.
